During 1999 the share price did not perform as expected. However, at the beginning of the present year the market recognised RED ELÉCTRICA’s excellent combination of strength and potential and the share price rose in accordance with the real circumstances of the company. Last year was generally overshadowed by concerns related to the so-called "Y2K Effect". RED ELÉCTRICA, in close co-operation with the government and other Spanish and European companies in this sector, conducted a programme to prevent or minimise the negative effects – in accordance with the latest procedures.
