COURSE AIMS Course Aims An understanding of the flow of fluids through both the natural environment and the constructed environment is a fundamental requirement for practising environmental engineers. Such knowledge provides the foundations for the work of engineers in areas as diverse as rainfall analysis; the flow of water through rivers, wetlands and constructed ponds; permeation of water through natural soils and landfills; water and wastewater flow in pipes and channels and through treatment processes; design of pumps and turbines; water quality management and the dispersion of pollutants into the atmosphere.
